"The Icewine Festival Comes Of Age"

January 22, 2001

Sun Peaks, B.C.

The 3rd Annual Icewine Festival exceeded all expectations by setting a record attendance this weekend at Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia. With all events selling out, guests from across North America were treated to Winemasters dinners, a Dessert & Icewine Competition and a Progressive Tasting showcasing the award winning alpine resort and 17 of the leading wineries from the Okanagan. Over 600 guests visited the resort this weekend for the Icewine festival.

Christopher Nicolson, Director, Media for Sun Peaks commented "When we set out three

Years ago to work with the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society to build a world class Festival, we knew it was ambitious. But with over half of our customers now coming from outside the region, we have been able to build a world class event that appeals to local, regional and international wine tourists. When customers are asking us when they can book for next year’s Icewine Festival before they have even left the resort, I know that we will have a very successful partnership with the wine industry for many years to come."

At the Icewine Festival, Donna Faigaux, President of the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society announced the winners of the 3rd Annual Okanagan Icewine Competition. The Awards, sponsored by WHERE Thompson Okanagan Magazine, were presented at the Icewine & Dessert Competition featuring Sun Peaks Resort’s restaurants and Okanagan wineries.
